Village
Jaankar
If India has to become a developed nation, India's villages
must be developed.
Development of villages need empowered villagers.
Our idea
of a Village Jaankar is an empowerment citizen in each village,
who will further empower the villagers. To ensure that one citizen
does not become the sole owner of knowledge, we are planning
to have two to three village jaankars in each village, typically
representing multiple stakeholders like teachers, SHG leaders
and panchayat leader.
These Village
Jaankars would be the gateway of information to the villages
and would also be the windows of the villages to the outside
world. Multiple stakeholders can use the VJs in different ways.
e.g. an NRI may like to request the VJ to send her / him the
photograph of their village school or they may request the VJ
to identify beneficieries they would like to support. Governments
and Corporates may like the VJ to be contact person for the
villages and so would be the research agencies and media.
While we
are looking at multiples of 638387 VJs who would be village
people, we are also looking at 638387 VJs who are Non Resident
Villagers who are from villages but are now staying in cities.
Simultaneously,
we are looking at 638387 VJs who are NRIs from different villages.
The whole
idea is to create a network of individuals who have interest
in specific villages.
638387.org
is working with enlightened citizens to form the role of the
different VJs and this will be spelt out soon.
In the meantime,
if you would like to become a VJ of any of the above categories,
send a mail to Sangeeta@IndianNGOs.com
If you have
an opinion about the role of the VJ, send a mail to Sanjay@IndianNGOs.com
